Long Count

Long Count is a short film written and directed by Raquel Hagman, a second year UCLA MFA Candidate in Cinematography. This was quite an emotional film to work on as it touches on the subject of sexual abuse of a child. The story follows an up-and-coming boxer who is haunted by her past fears of sexual abuse. I played the antagonist named ‘Him’. A camp counselor who sexually abused the protagonist in her past and continuously haunts her into the present. Playing this character was quite an emotional load to carry. My scenes, which were filmed right before the Pandemic, with the little girl version of her past self were challenging and took a toll on me after the film wrapped. However, as hard as it was to deal with the emotional fallout, I was honored to be part of this short film and telling this important story.

Long Count will begin its Film Festival submission process by this month and will eventually be available on streaming platforms. Check back for further updates.
